This year Unadilla Township Fire Department answered 245 calls for service. We responded to Medical Emergencies from diabetic issues to full arrests and aortic aneurysms. Hazardous situations, from trees and wires down to environmental emergencies. Fires, from wildland to structures. Vehicle crashes, from property damage only to pin-ins. Some results were good, some not so much; we were professionals each and every time. We helped our neighbors and they helped us. We answered the call for help from our citizens, when they had the worst day of their lives. We set aside our daily lives, our families and friends. We did so without haste to do what we so dearly love to do, help.
Services
Our Services.
Medical / Rescue
Our department is trained and ready to respond to all natures of medical emergencies and rescue operations with
Rescue 700.
Our firefighters are trained and certified as Medical First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians to provide caring and rapid lifesaving, prehospital care.
In addition to our Medical Response we are prepared and equipped to handle a wide array of rescue and technical operations.
Fire Suppression
We are dedicated to providing professional and the best possible fire suppression to every call to service. Our Fire Engine 761 is the first apparatus to arrive on most fire scenes, and is equipped to release up to 1200 gallons of water per minute with its water canon if needed. It’s also equipped with a large variety of technical equipment and tools to be used in most any emergencies.
Water Supply
Tanker 762 is one of the largest and most sophisticated pieces of equipment in Livingston County. It carries 3000 gallons of water to supply our Engine 761 or multiple engines as part of the Livingston County Mutual Aid Task Force. It has the capability of automatically releasing a portable water supply pool to a fire scene and expelling its entire 3000 gallons of water into the supply pool in a matter of mere moments. This capability expedites our ability to transport load after load of water to a scene and essentially allows us to maintain an endless water supply in areas where a sufficient amount of water is not available. Along with its capabilities of supplying much needed water to a fire, it is equipped with some of the most sophisticated equipment available to include a portable thermal imaging camera.
Tanker 762 serves as a great multipurpose apparatus by also being outfitted as a Pumper Truck which expands its usefulness as an engine.
Furthermore it is equipped with lifesaving medical supplies, which makes it useful as a Medical Response Unit when our primary Rescue 700 Unit is responding to another call.
Search and Rescue / Brush Fire
Our two Brush Trucks and our Public Safety six wheel drive ORV allows us to leave no stone unturned. The Brush trucks and ORV are equipped with everything needed to extinguish open burning fires in the remotest of locations. Our ORV is also equipped as a medical rescue vehicle to treat and transport medical patients out of remote locations such as our surrounding forests.
